St. Elizabeth was recognized as a bariatric center of excellence. The program accredits inpatient and outpatient bariatric surgery centers in the United States and Canada that have undergone an independent, voluntary, and rigorous peer evaluation in accordance with nationally recognized bariatric surgical standards. Bariatric surgery accreditation not only promotes uniform standard benchmarks, but also supports continuous quality improvement.

Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. Its national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care.
There are over 275 standards on which the Joint Commission addresses an organization's level of performance in key functional areas including patient rights, patient treatment, and infection control. Since these standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts, providers, measurement experts, and consumers, meeting and exceeding them is a strong indicator that patients will likely experience positive outcomes. St. Elizabeth Hospital has been recognized for quality and commitment to ongoing care of the elderly. The hospital earned the NICHE (Nurses Improving Care for Health System Elders) designation at the Exemplar level - the highest level - from The Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing at New York University College of Nursing. This means elderly patients at St. Elizabeth can expect a higher level of care from a nursing team specifically trained to recognize and treat specific health conditions that affect the elderly.
The "Exemplar" status recognizes St. Elizabeth Hospital's ongoing, high-level dedication to geriatric care and pre-eminence in the implementation and quality of system-wide interventions and initiatives that demonstrate organizational commitment to the care of older adults.
St. Elizabeth Hospital is honored to be the recipient of the 2018 Hospital of the Year Award for hospitals with 61-160 beds. Hospital of the Year is one of 14 annual Nightingale Awards sponsored by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation and the Louisiana State Nurses Association. The awards are given to individuals and organizations who have exhibited quality service, commitment, and excellence for Registered Nurses in the State of Louisiana.
