Quality

Part of St. Elizabeth Hospital's continuing efforts at improving quality is participation in a national initiative for public reporting of quality measures promoted by organizations including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission.

Quality measures indicate how well a hospital is doing in following specific guidelines as a percentage of applicable cases, and provides a comparison to the national average.

Since interpreting the results may be difficult St. Elizabeth publishes an annual Quality Report in which quality measures are compared to accepted national standards. Our goal is to give you an understanding of how we rate when compared to others. It is also important to keep in mind that a small number of cases may distort the final results.

• St. Elizabeth Hospital is fully accredited by The Joint Commission

• St. Elizabeth Hospital was named the 2006, 2008, 2012, and 2014 Hospital of the Year (100 beds or less) by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation.

• In 2014, VHA (Voluntary Hospitals of America) Hospital Engagement Network named St. Elizabeth Hospital as a top-performer for the treatment of pressure ulcers, surgical site infections, ventilator associated pneumonia, and injuries from falls.

• iVantage Healthy Analytics named St. Elizabeth Hospital a Healthstrong Hospital as a top-performing facility in 66 different areas of performance metrics including quality outcomes, affordability, and efficiency.

• Press Ganey ranked St. Elizabeth in the top 10% nationally for Inpatient Satisfaction and in the top 20% nationally for outpatient care and emergency department satisfaction.

• St. Elizabeth was recognized by the Joint Commission as a Top Performer for Key Quality Measures® in 2014 for pneumonia, heart failure, surgical care, and venous thromboembolism (VTE).
